Input Shaper Max Acceleration
An ADXL graph gives a frequency. This page turns that hertz plus how much ringing you will tolerate into a first-guess accel cap for ZV, MZV, EI or 2-hump EI.

- Suggested max accel

- Angular frequency
- 314.16rad/s
- Shaper derate factor

Calculation method
Angular frequency ω = 2πf with f in hertz. Maximum acceleration a_max = ω² × allowed deviation / shaper factor, with deviation in millimetres so a_max is mm/s². Shaper factors: ZV 1, MZV 1.45, EI 1.7, 2-hump EI 2.15. The factor output echoes the table. Frequency stays in hertz in both unit systems; only the deviation field converts millimetres to inches.
Exact formula
ω = 2πf. a_max = ω² × deviation_mm / shaper_factor. Factors: ZV 1, MZV 1.45, EI 1.7, 2-hump EI 2.15. Higher-order shapers need more accel derate for the same leftover vibration. Limits: Residual-vibration kinematic bound, not SHAPER_CALIBRATE. Factors are planning derates, not Klipper internals.

Smooth shapers vs this table
Klipper’s smooth shapers are not in the four-factor list. Use the graph-recommended type, then cap accel with a tower.
Frequently asked questions
X and Y are different frequencies.
Run the calculator twice. Firmware sets accel per axis or uses the worse one.
Why does EI allow less accel than ZV?
EI is more robust to frequency error but leaves more residual vibration per unit accel, so the same deviation budget implies a lower a_max.
Is 0.05 mm ringing realistic?
It is a planning default. Glossy silk PLA shows ghosts you would ignore on matte PETG. Lower the deviation for show parts.
Do I still need to print a ringing tower?
Yes. This formula does not see a loose belt or a 1 kg toolhead.
