Vat Volume Checker
A 40 ml miniature in a puddle that looks “enough” can still starve mid-print. Treat the vat as a rectangle of fill height, subtract sliced millilitres (supports included), and keep a margin for the last layers.

Calculation method
Vat volume in millilitres is length × width × fill height in millimetres divided by 1000, because 1000 mm³ is 1 ml. Remaining millilitres are vat minus sliced volume. Enough is yes when remaining is at least the margin. Shortage is how many millilitres you still need to reach that margin (zero when you already have enough). Lengths convert millimetres to inches; volumes convert millilitres to fluid ounces.
Exact formula
vat_ml = L_mm × W_mm × H_mm / 1000. remaining = vat − sliced. enough = 1 if remaining ≥ margin. shortage = max(0, margin − remaining). Limits: Treats the vat as a rectangle; FEP bulge and tapered walls are ignored. Slicer millilitres miss undrained hollows.

Minimum covering film
Even when millilitres look fine, a large flat can starve locally. Keep the margin and do not run the last millimetre of fill height.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I measure fill height?
From the FEP up to the free surface at rest, in the middle of the vat. Ignore the meniscus on the wall.
Slicer says 40 ml but the bottle dropped 55 g.
Supports, drain-back and SG explain part of it. Use the volume-to-weight converter and a scale if you inventory by grams.
Can remaining be negative?
Yes — that means the job is larger than the puddle. Shortage then includes that deficit plus the margin.
Tilted vat?
This model is a rectangular box. A tilted or ridged vat is smaller than L×W×H.
